Salitage Unwooded Chardonnay 2006.
Talk about favourites - guess what popped up a few weeks ago at our panel tasting? As we've said in previous newsletters, we are not fussed on unoaked chardonnay, but each year when this wine splashes into our glass we are rejuvenated. The 2006 from Salitage is a beauty. It's fresh and fruity with bundles of citrus flavour and nectarines and the palate bounce is exemplary and it suits many foods from chicken dishes to white-sauce pasta and rich seafood to veal. The most consistent of its style made in the West.
